释义 Hume, John John HumeHume, John  (1937–) a politician from Northern Ireland, who was the leader of the SDLP (=Social Democratic Labour Party) from 1979 to 2001, and who was a member of the UK Parliament and the Northern Ireland Assembly. He is known for trying to bring an end to violence in Northern Ireland, and trying to start peace talks between Catholics and Protestants.
