- 圣人是物来顺应,众人也是物来顺应。圣人之顺应也,从廓然大公来,故言之应人如响,而吻合乎当言之理;行之应物也,如取诸宫中,而吻合乎当行之理。众人之顺应也,从任情信意来,故言之应人也,好莠自口,而鲜与理合;事之应物也,可否惟欲,而鲜与理合。君子则不然,其不能顺应也,不敢以顺应也。议之而后言,言犹恐尤也;拟之而后动,动犹恐悔也。却从存养省察来。噫!今之物来顺应者,人人是也,果圣人乎?可哀也已。
