Roosevelt, Eleanor Eleanor RooseveltRoo·se·velt, El·ea·nor /ˈrəʊzəvelt, ˈelənə $ ˈroʊ-, -nər/ (1884–1962) a US writer and politician who was the wife of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. She actively supported improvements in the social and economic conditions of ordinary people, and is thought to have influenced the ‘New Deal’ policy of her husband’s government.
